President’s Message - January 2012

January is almost over and I keep asking myself “Where does the time go?” If January is any indication of how the year is going to pan out, I would say we’re in for a good year!

The first activities meeting held at El Cotija, was a huge success! We had at least 36 members show up, maybe more, depending on our counting skills. Tommy Jackson did a great job outlining events for the up-coming year and has a calendar available with our regular scheduled events pre-printed ready for down load.

We had a small problem with our meeting location this month. Seems the Civil Air Patrol needed our regular meeting room more than we did. Be that as it may, we were re-located to the second floor C-130 room and as it turned out, it wasn’t half bad. For those of you that missed the meeting, the C-130 room has a stepped seating area much like the old Coliseum in Rome, Italy. There was plenty of seating available though, and I heard a few people comment they actually liked it better. Maybe this was a blessing in disguise. I would like to hear your thoughts and comments on this so you can email me directly at hoopesj@windstream.net

I completely zoned out when I left the house to go to the meeting. I had the gavel and the 50/50 tickets in the back of my Vette thinking that would be the car I drove to the meeting. Well, mother-nature had a different idea, so the Vette stayed home, along with the gavel and tickets - my bad. I have to get use to carrying around that little wooden hammer!

Looking forward to the New Year and getting back to doing some fun events with some great folks! If anyone has any ideas, suggestions or things you would like to see or do in the upcoming year, please email me or give me a call and we’ll see if we can’t make it happen!

Remember, save the wave!
