Meeting held at Museum of Aviation meeting room in Warner Robins

 

President’s Remarks: John Hoopes, 2012 President opened the meeting at   10 am by welcoming members and visitors, Fran Chotowski and Eric Acree.

Tommy reported that there were 36 members present at the January activities meeting.

National Corvette Club (NCM) Report:  John Glover, Ambassador

 

John explained the five rules of “The Wave”

  1. No exclusions allowed – there is no time not to wave
  2. Corvette driver first seeing another Corvette is the first to wave
  3. The Wave is correct with both sexes
  4. Any type of wave is acceptable
  5. Even a “late” wave is permitted

 

John is planning a “work day” at NCM, probably for April 13-15 – check website

 

 

 

Unfinished Business: John Vencill explained to the club about the Google Group for our club.  Invitations have been sent to all members of the club, but they must be accepted for the member to become a part of the group.  If a member ignored their invitation earlier and wants to join now, they can sign on at the club website home page.  It was suggested that a member training session be set up for those needing assistance.  Members could bring their laptops and a session could be held following a regular club meeting.

 

A donation from earlier fundraising of $179.00 is still shown in the club treasury.  Club minutes need to be reviewed for designation of where the money was destined to go.

 

Johnece Sloan publicly thanked Cindy Taylor for her help in preparing her house for the December Tour of Homes.

 

Charity Donations: Debbie Jackson suggested that in lieu of all money donations, the club do events to raise money for specific charities who ask our help.

 

Membership Dues: Motion made by Al Hemstreet with second by Richard Alexander that the club be raised immediately for new members only to $35 for couples and $20 for singles and that dues include a club name tag. (Dues for renewals would remain the same - $25 for couples and $15 for singles.) Motion carried.

 

 

New Business:

 

President John Hoopes announced that membership packets are to be given out at Five Star Chevrolet to purchasers of Corvettes.  Information on NCM will be included.

 

Allen Kingry reminded members that we should place club information cards on all non-member Corvettes we see in the area. 

 

 

Business from the floor:

 

Motion was made by Allen Kingry with second by John Glover that the club cards be reprinted with a light background.  Motion carried.

 

Announcements:

 

Carol Hoopes reminded members that she and John met anyone who wanted to come to El Cotijo’s on Hwy 96 each Saturday at 5 pm.

CLCG Christmas Party – December 9, 2011 – Cost $10 per member paid by member and club pays balance of cost.

Tour of Homes – December 11 - $2.50 per member fee

   Money collected for Tour of Homes will be divided between winning ticket drawn and Charity Fund.

National Corvette Club (NCM) Report:  John Glover, Ambassador

John Glover was not able to be present, but sent some maps and calendars for NCM.

 

Motion made by Tom Huddleston with second by John Hoopes to make donation to Meals of Wheels $1,000

Motion carried.

 

 

Unfinished Business: It was suggested that 2012 Activities Chairman begin by putting all recurrent events (meetings, NCM events, car shows) on calendar and add Cruises and overnight trips such as a trip in 2012 to Calloway Gardens and to Amelia Island, FL. 

 

 

New Business:

Election of officers for 2012: VP Bobby Taylor, Nominating Committee Chairman

Bobby collected marked ballots from members at meeting and added in any absentee votes sent to him by members who could not be present.

After a committee counted the votes the following officers were elected for 2012:

Treasurer: Carol Hoopes

NCM Ambassador: John Glover

These officers will take office beginning with the 2012 calendar year..

 

Other new business:

Barbara Kingry will be in charge of the ladies Bunko group for 2012.  Bunko is third Tuesday of each month meeting at different members homes.  New members are needed.

 

Business from the floor:

 

John Vencill explained about the new Google Group for the club in which members must join by accepting the invitation sent to them.  We are using the same email address as in the club roster.

 

Richard Alexander thanked the 2011 officers for their work for the club.

 

Announcements:

 

Cleve Rogers announced that he is organizing a Shag Group meeting on Thursday at 6:45 pm at Jocks and Jills on Riverside Drive in Macon.  Anyone is welcome to come.

President’s Remarks: Allen read a letter of appreciation from the Museum of Aviation for the clubs participation in the Wings and Wheels Car Show. Bob Dubiel gave a personal thank you  to the club.

Jean reminded the membership of the fish fry at Bobby and Cindy Taylor’s home  this afternoon at 3 pm.

The trip to Octoberfest in Helen, GA has seven cars signed up so far.

A trip to Rock City is planned for December 3.

Club Christmas Party is set for December 9 (Friday) at the Officers Club at RAFB  Those planning to attend must pay their fee  by next meeting (November 19). Cost is $10 each with club paying the balance of cost. Those wishing to exchange gifts should bring a gift valued at $20 to $25. We will also be collecting Christmas Shoe Boxes for Meals on Wheels recepients.

Tour of Homes is scheduled for Sunday December 11.  Homes on the tour include the homes of the Sloans and the Bakers.

Phyllis Moss announced that a Halloween Costume Bash was being held by Houston County Jaycees to benefit Kids Yule Love. This includes a Bachelor Auction and a costume contest.  It will be held at Friends Bar and Grill on October 22 at 8 pm..

 

The Weldons displayed large posters personalized with members corvettes and other information.  3’ X 5’ is $60 and 2’ X 3’ is $30.  Contact them for more information.

 

NCRS Winter Regional Meet is scheduled for January 26-29, 2012 at Kissimmee, FL.

 

Bobby Taylor has a $100 gift card from Walmart which will be given away at the club Christmas Party.

President’s Remarks: Allen updated the club on Joan’s medical condition.  She is doing much better.

Motion made by Helen Hemstreet with second by Eileen Parker that the club subsidize the meals for the Christmas Party.  Members will pay $10 each and club will pay balance for each member attending.  Motion carried.

 

Christmas Tour of Homes will be December 11, 2011 featuring the homes of the Sloans and the Bakers.

 

Cruise on Tuesday, October 11 to Rusty’s Bar and Grill in Perry. 7 pm

 

National Corvette Club (NCM) Report:  John Glover, Ambassador

John reported on current Corvette Raffles, Vets and Vettes and the planned Motor Sports Park to be built near the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, KY.  A 2014 grand opening is planned.

The check sent to NCM for the club banner to be displayed during 2012 was lost.  The club has been offered a place holder for the year 2013 

 

Unfinished Business:

 

Price for the Tour of Homes tickets was questioned.  $2 or $2.50 each?   Where does the money from the tickets go – Host homes or Meals on Wheels?

 

New Business:

 

Officer election for 2012 year is coming up.  Nominations will be closed at the October meeting and voting will be at the November meeting.  New officers take office in January 2012.   VP Bobby Taylor is in charge of the process.

Cliff Dube announced that his brother, Virgil, had written a book which would be available on audio book for $2.99.

Announcements:

 

Johnece Sloan and Debbie Jackson are working on plans for the CLCG Christmas Party.  Interest in having a “Dirty Santa” activity was expressed. Gifts should be in the $20 to $25 range.  Also, members will still be encouraged to bring “Shoe Boxes” for the Meals on Wheels program which our club donates to on a regular basis.

Members and visitors were welcomed by Bobby.  New members George and Carlene Brown were welcomed.  Visitor Jim Flamio was also welcomed.

 

Bobby explained the president’s absence. Joan Ritzer is in the hospital and Allen is with her.

 

The club Christmas party, planned for December 9, 2011, is being worked on by a committee.


The club website is having some problems and is being worked on to solve these.

Sharon Johnson’s mother died recently.  Barbara Kingry sent a card from the club.

 

A blood drive for Cody Lucas is being held in Perry today.

 

The wife of Bill Phelps, the auctioneer who has donated his service to the club on several occasions, has lung cancer.

 

A video starring Al Hemstreet and his grandson Mike Gibson is available on You Tube.  This was part of competition concerning Corvettes.

Corvettes Limited of Central Georgia Meeting Minutes– June 18, 2011

Meeting held at Museum of Aviation meeting room in Warner Robins

 

Meeting called to order at 10 AM by President Allen Ritzer.

 

Welcome members and visitors: George and Carlene Brown

 

President’s Remarks: President Ritzer suggested that a committee be formed to plan the Christmas Party. Debbie Jackson and Johnece Sloan agreed to serve on this committee.  Members present were reminded of the party to be held today at the Hemstreet’s house at Lake Sinclair.  A swim party is planned following the July meeting at the home of Allan and Joan Ritzer.  Because of the recent problems with the club website, it was suggested that John Vencill and Terry Weldon get together to talk about changing the webmaster job from John to Terry.

 

In a discussion on the recent club car show, it was suggested that the 2012 car show become a part of the Cherry Blossom Festival in Macon.  This would get more publicity for the car show as an event of the CBF.

National Corvette Museum  (NCM) Report:  John Glover, Ambassador 

 

John spoke of the Vettes for Vets program and the Wounded Warriors emphasis.  He also reminded the membership of the many raffles being held by the NCM.  He suggested that interested members go to the NCM website for more information.

Business from the floor: Bob Dubiel spoke of the upcoming auction and raffle being sponsored by the Museum of Aviation at which the winner can choose one of several automobiles being offered.  Other items will be available to bid on.

 

Announcements: President Ritzer had to leave the meeting early because of a conflicting event.  Secretary presided over the balance of the meeting. 

 

Johnece Sloan spoke of an event  called “Cages, Haulers and Cruisers for Kids.”

 

Debbie Jackson told of the recent show at Myrtle Beach, SC that she attended.  This was the sixteenth annual corvette show at  that location.

 

Richard Alexander thanked the members for  their kindness to his son at last month’s meeting,

Jean was delayed in getting to the meeting, but a report was given on the May car show.  It was suggested that we might want to avoid doing the show on Mother’s Day Weekend. It was also suggested that we not limit it to Corvettes. There were some judging issues and some problem with registration.  Most thought the   show was more fun outdoors rather than inside the mall. The DJ was good, but should have avoided playing “Mustang Sally.”

 

We are considering changing our website carrier because of recent problems.

 

Jean Baker arrived and went over many of the upcoming activities posted on the website.

Dan Carter spoke about the Performance Driving School.

Bob Dubiel spoke about the upcoming Ft. Valley Car Show in which some of our members are acting as judges. The club will receive $200 for this work.

Bob also announced the Museum of Aviation Annual Auction coming up on July 16, 2011.

National Corvette Club (NCM) Report:  John Glover, Ambassador 

John spoke of the American Warrior Event and the Vets in Vettes event in November 2011.

Unfinished Business:

Bob Wade, Chairman of the May 7th CLCG Mall Car Show recapped progress on plans for the show.  Listen for radio spots on Q106 who will do a 2 hour remote at show.  Also listen on 100.9.  There will be a DJ during the show which will benefit Meals on Wheels. There will be an after-show party at Hooters.

There will be no classes to judge at the show.  Top Ten will be decided by participant voting.  There will be four sponsor trophies.

Bobby Taylor reminded members of the trip to the onion farm/fishing trip.

The club Christmas party is scheduled for Friday, December 9, 2011 at the Officers Club at RAFB

This was decided after considering the options:

Healy Point was $37.70 each.  Harmon’s place was $37.50 each plus $500 room rental. Officer Club was $27.50 with no room charge.

Motion made by Howard Moss with second by Phyllis Moss to have the party at the officer’s club. Motion carried.

National Corvette Club (NCM) Report:  John Glover, Ambassador 

John Glover spoke of the American Warrior Airlift.  He is working on setting up a club work weekend at NCM.  NCM wallet calendars are available from him.

Unfinished Business:

May car show update: A raffle will be held with tickets placed in a jar. $20 for  a table length of tickets  Bob Wade, Chairman says more prizes are needed including some that would appeal to ladies.  Girls from Hooters will be selling tickets at the show.  A Poker Walk will be held inside the mall.  Club will sell water (bottled) and snack foods.

Business from the floor:

Allan Trumbull announced that there would be an event in June at GEICO to raise fund from Cystic Fibrosis.  Jean will place the event on the club website calendar.

Flyers for the Mall Car Show were distributed by the Weldon’s.

The Wallaces and Bert Karlman are planning a trip to Amelia Island, FL.  See details on club website.

Meeting called to order at 10 AM by President Allen Ritzer.
 
Welcome members and visitors: Visitors/New Members included John Talvan (wife Catherine) and Gary and Rosemarie Spivey.
 
Allen introduced special guest Kenny Weaver of Meals on Wheels who gave the club an update on activities with Meals on Wheels in the Houston County area.  He thanked the club for the donation in 2010 as well as in previous years.  He also thanked CLCG members for their donation of shoe boxes.  Boxes contain toiletry items and other items.  Boxes are carried to Meals on Wheels recipients at Christmas time.
 
President’s Remarks: President Ritzer informed club members that Vice President Frank Shaffer had resigned as VP due to personal problems.  He plans to remain in the club but is unable to serve in his elected position.  A motion was made by Fred Horky with second by Jerry Hall to appoint Bobby Taylor as Vice President for the rest of the 2011 year. Motion carried.

Unfinished Business:
 With Frank Shaffer’s resignation, a new car show chairman is needed.  Frank has committees already set up and functioning.  Bob Wade agreed to take over as Chairman of the Car Show.  Committee chairmen reported on their progress.  A discussion was held on purchasing some door prizes with club money.  The committees will discuss and bring back to the club at a later meeting.

Motion made by Carol Hoopes to spend $1,000 from the treasury on door prizes for the car show to be held in the Galleria Mall parking lot.  Second by Al Hemstreet.   Motion carried.
 
Linda Huddleston asked a question concerning who were the sponsors, how much they were giving, and their placement on the back of the tee shirts advertising the show.
 
Announcements:
 
Al Hemstreet announced that he had been asked about reordering show shirts from the 2010 show.  Those wanting shirts should contact him with quantity and size.
 
A flyer for the promotion of CLCG is being worked on by Terry Weldon.
 
Charles Wallace proposed two road trips: one to Amelia Island, FL for March 11-13, and one to the Kennedy Space Center at a date to be decided on.
 
50/50 Charity Drawing:   Amount: $ 108.00    Winner: Bob Wade ($54) and $54 to club charity fund.
 
Club garment bags and jackets are for sale by Ron and Liz Dean at club sales table.
 
Today is Fred Horky’s last meeting with CLCG.  Linda is already gone to their new home.  A motion by Bob Wade with second by Phyllis Moss to have a “Going Away” party for Fred who is moving away after over 20 years as a member of the club.  Date TBD.

January 15, 2011– Museum of Aviation Third Floor Conference Room

Welcome:  The meeting was called to order at 10:02 am by President Allan Ritzer.

 

Treasurer’s Report: Treasurer Barbara Kingry gave a report on club finances for November

 2010.

 

Minutes: Secretary Judy Hall reported that the minutes for the November 2010 meeting had been posted on the club website.  Motion was made by Debbie Jackson to accept the minutes as posted.

Birthdays and Anniversaries for January 2011 were announced by Vice President Frank Shaffer.

 

Secretary Judy Hall announced that membership cards for members who had paid their dues for 2011 had been mailed out to those who paid earlier or given to members who paid dues today.

 

National Corvette Club Report: John Glover, Ambassador gave a short report on NCM Activities.  John had already emailed to members a listing of club members who were NCM members.  Currently members may get family memberships for the price of individual membership.

New business:

President Ritzer announced updates for the Standing Rules to do with Donations and Bereavements would be coming up at a future meeting.

 

Car Show: Vice President Frank Shaffer announced that according to our By-laws, the VP is supposed to form a committee to plan and execute the upcoming Spring Car Show.   The membership applauded to show appreciation to Al Hemstreet for his planning and leadership in past car shows.

 

Frank asked for volunteers for the following committees to run the car show for 2011: Door Prizes, Trophies, Public Relations, Parking Lot setup, Judges, DJ for Music, Registration and any others needed.

A number of people volunteered.  Frank will announce planning committee meetings.

 

The car show will be held in the Galleria parking lot near the Belks store.  Previous car shows have been inside the mall.  The mall management will still make a $600 donation to the club for having the car show in their parking lot in May 2011.

 

President Ritzer reminded members that Five Star Chevrolet is our general club sponsor, but several other businesses offer discount prices to club members.  Also, the Galleria Mall donates $600 to the club for the Spring Car Show.

 

Allan also reminded members that all activities are posted on our website and should be checked often to keep up to date on activities the club is participating  in.

 

Two upcoming events that club members may be interested in were announced: The Boomers Band event on January 28 (8 pm) and the Mercer Big Dance on Feb. 6.

 

A possible trip to Providence Canyon/Westville will be announced at a later date for an April/May date.  Judy Hall is planning.

 

President Ritzer has reserved a room at the Officers Club at RAFB for December 9, 2011 for the club Christmas Party.

 

Watch for more details for the Tail of the Dragon Trip near Deals Gap, NC.  Bed and Breakfast there only had 8 rooms.

 

A trip to Helen, Georgia is planned for Saturday, October 22 with a Sunday return.  We will be using the Best Western Motel there.

President Ritzer will be taking the check for $1,000 ($540 from 50/50 drawing proceeds and $460) to Meals on Wheels next week.  Club members are invited to join him for the event.  He will send email giving the day and time.

 

Sales Items: Ron and Liz Dean announced items on sale at sales table in front of room.

 

50/50 Drawing: Winner of $64 was Carl Crossin.  $64 goes to club charity fund.

November 20, 2010 – Museum of Aviation Third Floor Conference Room

Welcome:  The meeting was called to order at 10:02 am by President David Hardy.

David recognized Ron and Liz Dean and their club sales items on tables up front.

Club dues for 2011 are due now.  Barbara Kingry, Treasurer, is set to take payment for 2011 club dues (single - $15 and double - $25) at end of meeting.  She will also accept payment for the club Christmas Party.  Today is last day to pay for party.

Treasurer’s Report: Treasurer Barbara Kingry reported on club financials.  Copy of financial report is attached.  Motion was made by Walt Parker with second by Jerry Hall to accept report as given.  Motion carried.

Voting for 2011 Officers: In the absence of Vice President Dave Sloan, Johnece Sloan passed out ballots for the vote on officers for 2011.      Names of those on the ballot were read and members were instructed to vote yes or no on the ballots.

Christmas at the Crossroads parade is Saturday, December 4 in Perry.  There is a $5 each charge to participate in the parade.  Money collected goes to the J.C.s to help with costs of parade and to aid a needy family.

President David reminded members that 2010 had been a very busy year and asked members to call Jean Baker with ideas for activities in 2011.  As Past President David plan to pursue starting program to get and mentor new club members in 2011.

Activities Chairman Dan Carter is out of town.  Activities are posted on the club website, but members are reminded of the upcoming Tour of Homes on Sunday, December 5.  Meet at Tractor Supply on Hwy Conn 247 and Hwy 41 at 2 pm for a 2:15 departure.  Members will be going to two homes for Appetizers and Desserts.  Shoe boxes for Meals on Wheels will be collected at last home on tour.  There is no charge for the Tour of Homes, but members should sign up on website.

Five Star Cheverolet has been invited to attend the club Christmas Party on Saturday, December 11. at Healy Point Country Club. Open bar at 6 pm and dinner at 7 pm.

 The Sloans will take delivery of their new Vette at the National Corvette Museum on November 30, 2010.

David thanked the 2010 officers and their spouses for their service.

Frank Shaffer announced that the Car Show at the Galleria will be held outside, not inside.  He needs volunteers for the planning committee.  Plans are for the show to be held in early April.

Fred Horky suggests that members who can go with the Sloans for the delivery of their new vette at the NCM.  They plan to leave on November 29 and accept delivery of their new Corvette at 7:45 am on November 30.  Contact Dave and Johnece if you want to go.

John and Carol Hoopes have reserved a block of 20 rooms for a club trip to Helen GA on October 22nd 2011.  Please contact John or Carol for more information.

The possibility of a house boat trip to Florida in the spring of 2011 is being studied.  Contact John or Carol Hoopes if you are interested.

Christmas Party – 12/11 at Healy Point. 6PM Social (Cash bar), Buffet Dinner at 7PM.  Cost is $40 per couple or $20 per person and must be paid no later than the November business meeting. David Hardy is P.O.C. for this function.

Tour of Homes – 12/5.  Members will meet at Tractor Supply at 2pm to cruise to Paul and Erica Loranzano’s home for Appetizers and then cruise back to Bobby and Cindy Taylor’s house for dessert.  If you do not want to cruise from Warner Robins, please meet at the Loranzano’s home at 3pm. Visitors Terry and Collette Weldon were welcomed and given an application to join the club.

Activities Report: Dan Carter, Chairman – All activities are posted on website.  Dan gave highlights of the following activities: Activities Meeting – Oct. 7, Poker Run – Oct. 8 and Wings and Wheels Car Show – Oct. 9, Corvettes for Breast Cancer – Oct. 9, Perry Georgia National Fair Parade – Oct. 9, CLCG Business meeting – Oct. 16.

Wings and Wheels Car, Truck and Motorcycle Show – Saturday, October 9. – Names on list to work were passed around for verification including Poker Run stop personnel and Judges for show.  There will be a meeting on October 4th at 6 pm at Bob Dubiel’s home.  Price for regular show entry is $25 and for workers cars only - $10.

Officer Election for 2011 – Nominating Committee volunteers were solicitated.  Johnece Sloan will sub for VP Dave Sloan since he is out of town on his job.  Volunteers  for officer positions will be appreciated.  Contact Johnece to volunteer.  Nominations will be announced at October meeting with elections at November meeting.  New officers take office in January 2011.
