An end of summer party is scheduled to be at the Sloan’s house.
Two new activity ideas have been suggested: Houseboat on the St. John’s River and bowling.
Tour of Homes in December has two homes so far; Taylor’s and Sloan’s. There was a discussion to pay the hosts for the refreshments at the homes with a limit on the price to be paid.
National Corvette Museum Report: Ambassador John Glover was not present. David announced that there were only six votes cast as to which date to set as an annual trip to the museum. Votes were three each for September and October. John would like to have more interest shown before planning an annual trip.
Club Shirts: Ron Dean had a display of possible shirts for the membership to see. Pricing was between $36 and $45. Bob Dubiel reminded the members that Joe Rutherford would do a shirt (with club logo) for about $31. All bids that Ron had were from local firms. The old shirt that the club selected the last time has been discontinued. All shirts displayed were available in both a man’s and a ladies shirt.
The membership was reminded that there had been a 5% surcharge above the cost of the shirt on previous club shirts. Motion was made by Allan Ritzer with a second by John Hoopes to drop this surcharge on upcoming club shirts. Motion carried. (22 for, 4 against)
The shirt style and color will be voted on at the next business meeting.
Announcements:
Chris Albritton’s brother died recently. The club made a donation to a suggested charity in his name. Allan Trumbull had surgery recently and is doing well. He is back at work already.
A motion was made by Allan Ritzer with second by Al Hemstreet that the club make a donation to the Alzheimer’s Association in memory of former long time club member, Rhett Smith, who died recently. Rhett and his wife Lana, who died in 1995, were members for about 20 years. The amount of the donation was suggested to be $500. When there was some disagreement on the amount, it was agreed to table the motion to be voted on at a later meeting. The officers will confer and suggest an amount for the donation and the club will vote at the next meeting.
Members attending the Ritzer’s Pool Party should bring a side dish to the party. The meat will be provided by the Ritzers.
